HARRISBURG – The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has recently announced that it has awarded over $1 million in grants to projects in the 64th Legislative District, according to Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Crawford).

Expressing gratitude for the funding, James stated, "I am grateful to see this critical funding dedicated to Venango County. Pennsylvanians deserve the best possible services, and these projects will achieve this outcome."

The funding comes from two sources. The first set of funding is from the COVID-19 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, specifically allocated to the H2O PA – Water Supply, Sanitary Sewer and Storm Water Projects Program. The General Authority of the City of Franklin has been awarded $585,333 from this program, which will be used to purchase and install an emergency generator in Franklin City.

The second set of funding is also from the COVID-19 ARPA funds, specifically designated for the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program. The Uniontown Heights Municipal Authority has been allocated $423,175 from this program, which will go towards a sewer line replacement project in Sandycreek and French Creek townships.

In addition to these grants, the PA Arts and Culture Recovery Program (PACR) has been created from COVID-19 ARPA funds. This program aims to provide grants to nonprofit arts and culture organizations, local arts and culture districts, and arts and culture professionals located in the Commonwealth to ensure the stability and recovery of the Commonwealth’s arts and culture sector from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Franklin Civic Operetta Association has been awarded $20,189 from this program for operating expenses for the Barrow-Civic Theatre.

This funding is crucial in supporting and improving various aspects of the 64th Legislative District. It will not only enhance the water supply, sanitary sewer, and stormwater projects, but also contribute to the maintenance and development of the arts and culture sector within the district.

These grants highlight the commitment of the Commonwealth Financing Authority to invest in projects that benefit local communities. Rep. James' dedication to securing funding for the 64th Legislative District is evident in his efforts to ensure that Pennsylvanians receive the best possible services.
