HARRISBURG – Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Crawford) and Sen. Scott Hutchinson (R- Butler/Clarion/Erie/Forest/Venango/Warren) have successfully secured nearly $11 million in grant and low-interest loan funding for two sewer projects and one water quality plan in Venango County. The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) has awarded the funding to the following entities:

• Frenchcreek Township: $4.78 million towards the construction of a new treatment plant and other facilities. This includes a grant of $3.19 million and a loan of $1.59 million. The project aims to replace the current trickling filtration process with a three-tank sequencing batch reactor and ultraviolet disinfection system.

• General Authority of the City of Franklin: $3.68 million loan for the replacement of two sections of aging waterline along Allegheny Boulevard.

• Polk Borough: $2.37 million, consisting of a grant of $1.58 million and a loan of $791,232. This funding will be contributed to Frenchcreek Township to build a new wastewater treatment plant.

Representative James expressed his satisfaction with the funding, stating, "Work never stops to find ways to improve our communities in the 64th District, and I want to congratulate the recipients on this news. I advocated for the timely completion of the projects with a loan committee member. I am pleased to see our requests fulfilled by PENNVEST so our residents can receive the best services available."

Senator Hutchinson also praised the funding assistance provided by PENNVEST, saying, "It is fantastic that these essential community infrastructure projects received funding assistance through PENNVEST. These dollars will go a long way to reducing the costs for local ratepayers."

PENNVEST, founded in 1988, plays a crucial role in providing grants and low-interest loans for the design, engineering, and construction of drinking water distribution and treatment facilities, as well as stormwater and wastewater projects. Their aim is to improve the infrastructure and overall quality of life in Pennsylvania communities.

With the successful securing of nearly $11 million in funding, James and Hutchinson have proven their commitment to serving their constituents and improving the infrastructure in Venango County. These projects will not only enhance the quality of services provided but also lessen the financial burden on local ratepayers.
