Thompson Announces 2024 Congressional Art Competition

U.S. Representative Glenn “GT” Thompson has announced the commencement of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition in Pennsylvania’s 15th Congressional District. Rep. Thompson emphasized the importance of the competition, stating, "The Congressional Art Competition is a great way to foster creativity and encourage young artists in our communities." He also expressed his anticipation for the event, saying, "I am looking forward to seeing all the entries and welcoming the winning student to Washington, D.C."

The winner of the Congressional Art Competition will receive the prestigious opportunity to have their artwork showcased in the United States Capitol for an entire year. Additionally, the winning student will be invited to a special ceremony in Washington, D.C.

All students participating in the competition from the 15th Congressional District will have their artwork exhibited at the Winkler Gallery of Fine Art in Dubois. A reception to honor the students, their friends, and families will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 6.

The selection of the winning artwork will be carried out by an impartial panel of judges appointed by the Winkler Gallery. Students interested in submitting their artwork for consideration must ensure that their pieces adhere to specific criteria, including being two-dimensional, not exceeding certain dimensions and weight limits, being original in design, concept, and execution, and not infringing upon any U.S. copyright laws.

The deadline for submissions to the 2024 Congressional Art Competition is March 27. For more detailed information and a comprehensive overview of the contest rules, interested individuals can visit the official website at https://thompson.house.gov/services/art-competition.
