Thompson Announces Appointment of Samuel Harvey to the United States Military Academy

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Glenn “GT” Thompson today announced that Mr. Samuel Harvey, of Warren, Pa. has accepted a fully qualified appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.

Harvey, a senior at Warren Area High School, is described by Rep. Thompson as a well-rounded individual who excels both academically and in extracurricular activities. The congressman stated, "Samuel has been a leader in the classroom, on the football field, and in the community. His passion for service to others and a determination to succeed will serve him well at the United States Military Academy."

The aspiring cadet comes from a supportive family background, being the son of Samuel and Rachel Harvey of Warren, Pa., and the grandson of Samuel and Kathy Harvey of Manassas, Va., and George and Ruby Sakai of Topeka, Kan. Harvey also has three siblings - Sarah, Annabelle, and John Harvey.

Aside from his academic achievements, Harvey holds various leadership roles at school, such as serving as the Senior Class Vice President and being a member of the National Honor Society. He is actively involved in his local church, St. Joseph Parish in Warren, and participates in sports, including football, powerlifting, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Rep. Thompson expressed his well-wishes for Harvey, stating, "I wish Samuel all the best as he begins a new chapter at West Point."

As Samuel Harvey prepares to embark on his journey at the prestigious U.S. Military Academy, his community and supporters eagerly anticipate the accomplishments he will achieve in service to his country.
