FOIA Request Sent to Elk County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Elk County Election Department on October 30, 2024. The request pertains to pre-election voting machine test reports.

As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Northwest PA News believe in the importance of transparency and accountability in public institutions. We have therefore requested these records under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq., preferably in electronic format.

The specific information requested includes the date of testing, machine manufacture details, machine model numbers, and the status of each machine - whether it passed or failed the test. This data is sought in PDF format for all counties involved in the upcoming elections.

Our role as a media outlet involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records such as these is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We firmly believe that such transparency not only keeps public institutions accountable but also provides valuable insights for our readership.

We are hopeful that our request will be granted promptly so we can continue delivering timely and accurate information about local government affairs to our audience. As a media professional organization, we have also requested a fee waiver for this information.

We look forward to sharing more updates on this matter as they become available.
