Rep. R. Lee James has announced that the 64th District will receive over $1 million in grant funding from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2). The funds are designated for various conservation and recreation projects within Crawford and Venango counties.
"Our region provides a plethora of outdoor activities for families and tourists to enjoy. I am grateful to see this funding allocated to our district, and I look forward to seeing residents and tourists take advantage of visiting these wonderful sites," stated James.
The funding allocations include $318,700 for the Oil Region Alliance of Business, Industry and Tourism to manage heritage area initiatives, redesign a visitor center in Emlenton, Venango County, and develop historic resource planning documents. In Venango County, the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy will receive $311,800 to acquire land for a new nature preserve along Deer Creek Road in Frenchcreek Township.
Additionally, the City of Franklin is set to receive $269,400 to prepare a tree canopy plan. Another project by the Oil Region Alliance involves developing public access along the Allegheny River in President Township with a grant of $179,300. This includes constructing a boat launch and fishing pier with ADA access.
The C2P2 grants aim to support conservation and recreation-focused projects awarded to municipalities and authorized nonprofit organizations. These grants facilitate park rehabilitation, land acquisition for park purposes, feasibility studies, trail studies, conservation plans, site development planning, as well as comprehensive recreation planning.
