Rep. Donna Oberlander is organizing a Firearms Safety and Rights Seminar on Saturday, July 9, in Hawthorn. The event will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Hawthorn Firehall and aims to educate residents about firearm rights and safety.
The seminar will cover several topics, including how to obtain a permit for carrying a concealed weapon, situations that can lead to revocation of such permits, protocols when interacting with law enforcement while carrying a concealed weapon, and information on Pennsylvania’s Castle Doctrine along with other state gun laws and the Second Amendment.
Applications for concealed carry licenses through the Clarion County Sheriff’s Office will be available during the event. Attendance is free of charge.
“Due to the pandemic, we’ve taken a short hiatus from holding these seminars, which have seen great attendance over the years,” said Oberlander. “Due to popular demand and a desire from local residents wanting to learn the latest about our state’s firearms laws, we will host an upcoming seminar with our new District Attorney Drew Welsh and new Sheriff Shawn Zerfoss.”
Those interested in attending should pre-register as seating is limited. Registration can be completed by calling Oberlander's Clarion district office at (814) 226-9000 or via her website at RepOberlander.com.
