On December 3, 2024, Thompson criticized the Biden administration for its handling of the updated Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA). He stated that "The Biden admin's continuous failure to implement the updated FASFA has wreaked havoc for students and families across the Commonwealth. I have been working to remedy this failure so students can both access and focus on their education."
In another tweet posted on December 5, 2024, Thompson highlighted the participation of the Austin Area School District in a national event. He remarked, "Tonight is the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. This year, Austin Area School District, the smallest public school in Pennsylvania, was selected to decorate the Pennsylvania Tree."
