U.S. Representative Glenn "GT" Thompson has expressed his support for the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025, following its passage. Thompson stated, "This year’s National Defense Authorization Act makes a substantial investment in personnel, equipping warfighters with the tools and resources necessary to counter rapidly developing global threats, while ensuring continued deterrence from America’s foreign adversaries."
Thompson highlighted the inclusion of the Military Housing Transparency and Accountability Act within the NDAA. He remarked, "With a focus on our brave men and women in uniform, I am especially pleased with the inclusion of the Military Housing Transparency and Accountability Act, a bill I authored to ensure all military families have access to safe, affordable, and functional housing." This act aims to provide Armed Forces members and their families with a centralized tool to assess and compare housing options.
The NDAA outlines several key provisions. It includes a 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted service members and a 4.5% increase for other service members, impacting approximately 28,900 individuals in Pennsylvania. The act also facilitates employment opportunities for military spouses by easing professional license transfers between states when relocated due to base transfers. Additionally, it authorizes significant investments in military housing maintenance and new family housing units.
