Rep. Lee James has announced that the State Transportation Commission approved $1.14 million in state funding for Webco Industries, Inc., located in Oil City. The funds are designated for a significant infrastructure project aimed at enhancing rail facilities.

The investment will be used to construct a new rail spur and install equipment for loading and unloading rail cars. This development includes adding 700-800 feet of rail spur on Webco's property and acquiring a gantry crane to manage large steel coils weighing between 20-23 tons from the rail cars. The project anticipates handling 20-30 rail cars monthly.

"Webco Industries has a proven track record of success and has the experience and expertise to execute this project with excellence," stated James. "I am thrilled to see this project funding approved, which will result in a positive boost to our local economic development."

Webco Industries currently employs about 225 people in Venango County and approximately 1,450 employees nationwide, according to James.

The financial support comes from two programs: the Rail Transportation Assistance Program (RTAP) and the Rail Freight Assistance Program (RFAP).
