FOIA Request to Clarion County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
Northwest PA News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has sent a formal request under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq., to the Clarion County Election Department. The request was made for information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The requested details include the candidates' first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; party affiliation of the candidate; and all contact information for each candidate including their address, phone number, and email address.
As members of Northwest PA News, we are involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We await a response from the Clarion County Election Department regarding this request.
