Rep. Kathy L. Rapp announced that fire and ambulance companies in Pennsylvania's 65th Legislative District will receive nearly $486,000 in state grants. This funding aims to support their public safety efforts.
Rapp highlighted the challenges faced by emergency service workers in rural areas, stating, “The firefighters and emergency service workers in rural Pennsylvania have to cover huge areas with finite resources.” She emphasized the importance of these grants in providing necessary funding for operations.
The grant program is managed by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). Eligible projects include facility construction or renovation, equipment purchase or repair, training, and debt reduction. All applicants meeting OSFC requirements are awarded funds upon filing a grant agreement.

- Bear Lake Volunteer Fire Department: $12,018.46
- Bloomfield Township Volunteer Fire Department (EMS): $15,000
- City of Warren Fire Department (Fire): $15,246.13
- Russell Volunteer Fire Department (EMS): $15,000
These grants aim to enhance the capabilities of local fire and EMS services across various departments.
