Rep. Lee James of the 64th Legislative District announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has awarded over $1 million in grants for local projects. This funding is part of efforts to enhance public services within Venango County.
"I am grateful to see this critical funding dedicated to Venango County," stated James. "Pennsylvanians deserve the best possible services, and these projects will achieve this outcome."
The first allocation comes from the COVID-19 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds designated for water-related infrastructure under Act 54 of 2022. The General Assembly had appropriated $205.4 million for constructing drinking water, sanitary sewer, and storm water projects. From this fund, $585,333 was granted to the General Authority of the City of Franklin for an emergency generator installation.
Another portion of ARPA funds was directed towards the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program. Under Act 54 of 2022, $105.6 million was allocated for improving various water systems. The CFA assigned $423,175 to the Uniontown Heights Municipal Authority for a sewer line replacement project in Sandycreek and French Creek townships.
Additionally, the PA Arts and Culture Recovery Program (PACR), also funded by ARPA, aims to support nonprofit arts organizations recovering from the pandemic's impact. The Franklin Civic Operetta Association received $20,189 for operating expenses at the Barrow-Civic Theatre.
