Rep. Lee James and Sen. Scott Hutchinson have announced that the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) has allocated over $4 million in grants and low-interest loans to two projects aimed at improving water quality in Venango County.

“These upgrades were desperately needed to ensure residents in the 64th District would have continuous access to clean water,” said Rep. James. “I am pleased to see PENNVEST provide the means necessary so municipalities can provide the best service.”

Sen. Hutchinson added, “I’m glad to see these infrastructure funds help to defray the cost to local taxpayers for clean and reliable drinking water.”

The Clintonville Borough Sewer and Water Authority will receive $3.16 million for a new 100,000-gallon water tank, replacing an outdated one. Of this funding, 85% is a grant, with the remaining 15% as a loan. This project aims to prevent water outages and increase service reliability for approximately 257 residential customers in Clintonville Borough and Clinton Township.

In Sandycreek Township, a $904,600 loan will be used for pump station improvements. These include installing a modern Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System and updating electrical wiring for code compliance across 16 pump stations. The enhancements will allow remote monitoring capabilities for quicker response times during operations.

Founded in 1988, PENNVEST supports design, engineering, and construction of both public and private drinking water distribution systems, treatment facilities, stormwater management, and wastewater projects through grants and low-interest loans.
