Senator Scott E. Hutchinson has been recognized by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) as one of the "Guardians of Small Business" for the Pennsylvania General Assembly's 2023-24 legislative session. This honor places him among ten legislators in Pennsylvania acknowledged for their support of small businesses.
Greg Moreland, NFIB Pennsylvania State Director, praised Hutchinson's commitment to small businesses, stating: “The small business community has no better friend than Sen. Hutchinson. His perfect voting record reflects how he prioritizes Main Street over Wall Street, and his efforts are leading to a better business climate in the commonwealth. NFIB PA’s 13,000 small business owner members thank you for all you do and congratulate you on this exclusive achievement.”
Hutchinson expressed gratitude upon receiving the award: “With only 10 awards given out in Pennsylvania, I am honored and humbled to receive the NFIB’s Guardian of Small Business Award. I have consistently advocated for reduced taxes, eliminating unnecessary government involvement, and growing community businesses to better all of Pennsylvania.”
Throughout the legislative session, Hutchinson supported several measures including freezing Pennsylvania’s automatic gasoline tax increase and removing the state from California’s Air Resources Board Emissions Standards. He also worked on improving the state's Board of Finance and Revenue appeal process, legislation that he championed into law.
