FOIA Request Sent to Cameron County Sheriff's Office Regarding Arrest Records on October 22, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Cameron County Sheriff's Office in Pennsylvania on October 22, 2024. The request, made by our team at Northwest PA News, seeks comprehensive data on all arrest records from the beginning of the year up until the present day.

Our request specifically asked for a variety of data points relating to each arrest record. These include the name, sex, race, age, date of birth and citizenship status of each arrestee. Additionally, we requested information about the booking ID and date of arrest for each individual.

Further details sought include booking photos and the names of arresting officers involved in each case. We also asked for information about the type and location of crime committed as well as its date.

As a media organization dedicated to providing accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe that access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

We are hopeful that our request will be granted without fees due to our role as a media professional involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. We look forward to sharing this information with our readers once it becomes available.
