Today, U.S. Representative Glenn “GT” Thompson and Secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, visited central Pennsylvania. They participated in a roundtable with local agricultural stakeholders. Joining them were Senator Dave McCormick and Representatives Dan Meuser, Rob Bresnahan, and Lloyd Smucker.

The day began in Lebanon at Talview Farms, where Representative Thompson and Secretary Rollins, along with Senator McCormick and Representative Meuser, focused on the state's dairy industry. Stacey and Brent Copenhaver, who own Talview Farms, emphasized the need for legislative support, highlighting the significance of the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act, which aims to provide essential nutrients to students and support family farms.

The tour continued at Bell & Evans in Fredericksburg. The operation, known for organic, hormone-free, antibiotic-free chicken, employs 1,800 residents. Here, owner Scott Sechler discussed industry challenges, such as bird flu, and the preventative measures being taken.

In Myerstown, a roundtable was held with local farmers and stakeholders to discuss topics like the upcoming farm bill, forestry, nutrition assistance, specialty crops, and conservation efforts.

Lastly, in Paradise, the group, including Representative Smucker, met with the Bank of Bird-in-Hand to explore ways to expand credit availability for national producers.
