Rep. Kathy L. Rapp (R-Warren/Crawford/Forest) has announced that Warren, Forest, and Mercer counties will receive a combined $134,844 in impact fees from the natural gas industry. Additionally, municipalities within the 65th Legislative District will receive an extra $34,590.

Impact fees are imposed alongside regular business taxes paid by corporations in Pennsylvania. Established in 2012, these disbursements aim to ensure communities affected by drilling receive adequate funding for projects such as road and bridge repairs, housing, and other infrastructure needs.

“The natural gas industry benefits us in so many ways,” Rapp stated. “Not only does it create hundreds of thousands of jobs and power our homes and businesses, but these impact fees also provide a significant funding source for the county and local governments of our Commonwealth.”

A complete list of disbursements to counties and municipalities is available on the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission’s website at puc.state.pa.us.
