Two recreational projects in Clarion County have secured over $265,000 in state grant funding. The announcement was made by Rep. Donna Oberlander and Sen. Scott Hutchinson.
Clarion Blueprint Community Inc. received a grant of $242,396 to install a new playground at Clarion Community Park within Clarion Borough. The project will develop 2.5 acres into recreational spaces featuring playground equipment, a swing set, a sand volleyball court, play surfacing, and sidewalks.
Allegheny River Trail in Clarion County Inc. was awarded $22,950 for creating a master plan for Fox-Hunt Park on the town's north side business district. The plan aims to involve community input regarding park features and access to the Allegheny River.
“Both of these projects will enhance recreation in Clarion Borough and Foxburg,” Oberlander stated. She expressed excitement about the playground construction and the community-driven plans for Foxburg's park.
“This grant will help with the development of a sound master plan for Fox-Hunt Park, ensuring public input in determining the best use of the land and the best way to incorporate river-related recreation,” said Hutchinson.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority approved these projects during its Tuesday meeting. Funding is sourced from Act 13 impact fees designated for greenways, trail, and recreation initiatives.
