CAMERON COUNTY: Cameron County Honors our Veterans on Memorial Day

Veteran

Cameron County issued the following announcement.

In conjunction with the Emporium Borough, Driftwood Borough, Mayor Zimmer and Mayor Lupro, the Cameron County Commissioners request a moment of silence at noon on Monday, May 25, 2020 to honor our veterans.  This time will be marked with church bells ringing and the activation of the fire sirens in Emporium, Sinnemahoning and Driftwood.

Initially established as Decoration Day after the Civil War, Memorial Day was declared an official holiday by Congress in 1971 for families to visit and decorate the graves of troops who sacrificed their lives in service of their country.  Please take this time to honor their memories.

To all the veterans who have served, continue to serve, and to those we have lost from our great County, We Thank You!

"Those who have long enjoyed such privileges as we enjoy, forget in time that men have died to win them." - Franklin D. Roosevelt

A special thank you goes out to the EMA Office and Cameron County Ministerium in coordinating the church bells and sirens.
