Union School District issued the following announcement.
Dear Parents, Students, and Community Members,
Today, USD was made aware that one of our close contacts identified earlier this week reported a positive COVID19 test. Through close communication with the Department of Health, we are following their guidance in addressing this situation. For individuals who do not present symptoms at the time of a COVID test, contact tracing is done for two days prior to the test. Since the individual has been asymptomatic, was quarantined through this week, and the district was not in session on Monday, the DOH has not recommended any additional quarantines and it is felt that the situation has been contained. Although additional quarantines have not been recommended, USD staff have still contacted parents of students who had close contact last week (a period of time outside of the contagious period as reported by DOH), to encourage monitoring and reporting of any symptoms. As the individual is associated with the football program which operates in cooperative agreement with AC-Valley School District, we have been in close contact with their administration in coordinating our efforts to address any concerns.
Should further guidance be received from the Department of Health which suggests a change in our current course of action, you will be contacted by Union School District with details. We thank you for your continued support as we work diligently to provide a positive educational experience for our students while also keeping everyone safe.
Sincerely,
John Kimmel, Superintendent
Union School District
