U.S. Representative Glenn “GT” Thompson has announced that the Technology and Entrepreneurship Center (TEC) in Indiana will receive a $30,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC). This funding aims to develop a comprehensive five-year Tech Economy Ecosystem strategy for Indiana County, named "Innovate Indiana."
“I am pleased to announce $30,000 in federal funding for TEC to develop a technology-driven economic plan in Indiana,” Rep. Thompson stated. He added that TEC has supported local entrepreneurs and that residents would benefit from new technologies and workforce development through this investment.
Dr. Erick Lauber, Executive Director of TEC, expressed gratitude for the grant: “This critical funding will enable us to develop a comprehensive five-year Innovative Economy Ecosystem strategy for Indiana, Pa.” He explained that with professional consultation, they aim to create an actionable roadmap focusing on entrepreneurship, workforce development, access to capital, and innovation culture.
The ARC is an agency involving both federal and 13 state governments focused on economic development across 423 counties in Appalachia. Its mission includes building community capacity and strengthening economic growth in the region.
Together with $30,000 from local sources, the total project budget will be $60,000 aimed at fostering local economic development.
