Rep. Donna Oberlander has announced an event for residents to securely shred unwanted personal and financial documents. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 15, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., in the parking lot of her district office located at 160 South Second Ave. in Clarion.
Oberlander emphasized the importance of protecting personal information from identity thieves, stating, “Identity thieves continue to find sneaky ways in order to steal people’s identity.” She encouraged residents to take advantage of this opportunity to have their sensitive documents destroyed safely.
The shredding service will be provided by Iron Mountain and is free of charge. Residents can drive through the district office parking lot during the event hours to have their documents shredded on site. Documents recommended for shredding include those containing credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, medical information, and bank account details.
Participants are asked to bring only loose papers and documents; magazines and books will not be accepted. There is a request for a limit of two or three boxes per person.
For further details about the event, residents can contact Rep. Oberlander's district office at (814) 226-9000.
